Install or Re-Register The iPad Kiosk App With The ID TECH VP3300 Card Reader

Lilitab Stand and Head Unit Assembly

There should be a printed handout in the box that came with your kiosk that gives step by step instructions on how to assemble your mount and head unit. You can also find those instructions by clicking on the Help article below. *Please note that, when installing the card reader in the head unit, do not apply pressure to the top section where the card icons are. This can narrow the swipe path and cause fitment issues. Install by pushing down toward the middle and sides of the card reader.

Charge The VP3300 Card Reader

The VP3300 card reader is delivered in only a partially charged state, and we recommend making sure that it is fully charged before use. Please use the included USB to micro-USB cable that came with the card reader to charge it, and allow 4-6 hours for it to fully charge.

Follow the steps below on your iPad to install and register the SecureGive iPad Kiosk application with your ID TECH VP3300 card reader. You will need your Apple ID and SecureGive administrative email and password to register/re-register the kiosk license. Before attempting these steps, please make sure the card reader is installed in the kiosk and receiving power.

Preliminary Steps

  1. iPadOS 15+: An iPad running iPadOS 15 or higher is required for our app to work. If your iPad cannot upgrade to at least iPadOS 15, please contact us for further help in upgrading your hardware.
  2. App Link: *If you already have our kiosk app on your iPad, it will need to be deleted and re-installed. Open the Safari app on your iPad and visit https://sgive.co/kiosk to be taken to our App Store listing. Please note that our app is Unlisted in the App Store so you cannot find it by searching the app store. You will only access it using our direct link. If you attempt to search the App Store for the kiosk app, it will not show up!
    1. Alternatively, once you have installed the kiosk app once, you are able to open the App Store and go to your list of previously downloaded apps and access the SecureGive app from there.
  3. Apple ID (now called Apple Account): In order to download any app from the App Store, an Apple Account is required to be logged in on the iPad. We highly recommend creating an Apple Account for your organization and not using an individual's personal Apple Account. To do that, you'll simply use an organization email and payment method (instead of personal ones) when creating the Apple Account. If you need help on creating an Apple Account, here is a link to Apple's help documentation. Please note that we are not suggesting that you set up an Apple Business Manager account.

SecureGive App Steps

  1. Download and launch the SecureGive Kiosk app - **At this point, your head unit should be on the stand so that everything is connected to power before proceeding with the next steps. There should be one steady flashing green light on the card reader. If you do not see this, make sure all of your connections are good.  If you see four flashing lights, you will need to reset the card reader by pushing a small pin in the hole in the bottom then you can place it back in the enclosure and on the stand.
  2. Turn on Bluetooth: On first launch, you will get a pop-up message that says, "Kiosk would like to use Bluetooth." Click OK. You'll then see a second pop-up message that says, "Turn on Bluetooth to allow kiosk to connect to accessories." From there, tap Settings. You will then be taken to the Bluetooth page in the Settings app where you can turn on Bluetooth. **Because the card readers now connect through Bluetooth, it is important that you do not have multiple kiosks/card readers close together when registering them.
  3. Sign In: Then relaunch the Kiosk app. You will have to enter a SecureGive administrator login in order to register or re-register the app to a kiosk license.
    1. This is a one-time process and only has to be completed when the app is first downloaded or if the app was deleted then re-downloaded.
  4. Select Organization: Once you've entered your admin credentials, the next screen will display a screen to tap on the organization name to confirm where this kiosk will be used.
  5. Registration:
    1. Register: Use this option if you're setting up a new iPad kiosk. This takes up any unused kiosk licenses on your account. Enter a name for this kiosk so you can easily remember which kiosk it is (i.e. - West Atrium, Kiosk 1, etc...). Note: The kiosk name will be visible in the bottom left of the screen so you can easily see which kiosk you are working on.
    2. Re-Register: If you are installing an upgrade kit, choose this option. If you had to wipe the iPad and set it back up, or if you want to move the kiosk license from one iPad to another, you can choose this option. You'll then choose which existing kiosk you want to use for the registration. Note: Once this iPad is registered, it will deactivate any other iPad that had the previous registration.
  6. Select a Card Reader: Tap on the name of the card reader, "ID TECH VP3300", to pair it with the kiosk app. If the name of the card reader does not immediately show on this page, then check to make sure the card reader is installed in the kiosk and the kiosk is connected to power. The name of the card reader should then appear.
  7. Begin!
    1. This completes the registration process and will sign you out of your administrative account and load the standard app launch screen.
    2. Finally, complete a $1 test transaction on the kiosk to make sure the card swipe is working properly. *Please note the graphic on the swipe device. Cards must be inserted or swiped with the card stripe facing the user.
    3. If the iPad kiosk is not plugged into power, the card reader will go to sleep in 20-30 seconds, and you will receive an error when attempting a transaction. To keep this from occurring, make sure the kiosk is plugged into an outlet and the iPad and card reader are both receiving power.

Kiosk App Updates

From time to time SecureGive will release updates to the iPad kiosk application. You can see when updates are available from within the kiosk app by looking at the kiosk app version number in the bottom right corner. If the number has the “Update Available” text next to it, then an update is available for install. To install an update, follow the steps in the Help Center article below:
