This article will walk you through how to merge member profiles together from the Members page.
Member Account Types
Member profiles will either be designated as Registered, No Account, or Unclaimed. To learn more about the difference between those profile types, you can view the Help Center article below:
Members: Registered, No Account, and Unclaimed
When looking at member profiles on the Members page, you can see the different account types by looking at the label that displays under the Account column. Here's a description below of what the different account types mean:

Registered - These profiles have been logged in to by the member and have associated transactions. If the profile belongs to multiple organizations, the information can only be edited by the user and SecureGive.

No Account - This designation means 1) that a person may have made a guest transaction and their profile can't deleted, but the transactions can still be re-linked. Or 2) an administrator may have created the profile, but the person has not accepted the invitation and their member profile can be deleted.
- Unclaimed - This designation means that the profile is registered, but it has not been accessed by the member since our last major update which was approximately 2 years ago.
Types of profiles that cannot be merged
- You cannot merge a "Registered" profile into a "No Account" profile.
-You can merge two "No Account" profiles.
-You can merge two "Registered" profiles.
- You cannot merge into a profile that is registered under multiple organizations.
Note: If you need to merge into a profile that is registered under multiple organizations, then let us know, and we can merge the profiles for you.
How to merge member profiles:
- Go to Users > Members
- Search for the profiles that need to be merged together. In this example we have two profiles with the same first and last name but one email is spelled incorrectly (giver@securegove.com). We are going to merge them together so that we keep the giver@securegive.com email.
- Click on the profile that you do not want to keep, and then copy the email address (giver@securegove.com).
- Then go back to the Members page and click on the profile that you want to keep (giver@securegive.com).
- Click the Merge Member button
at the right.
- Enter the email address of the member you would like to merge transactions from. Once you enter an email address, wait a couple of seconds, and then a list of possible profiles will appear in a dropdown below that match the email address entered.
- Then click on an email address from the dropdown.
- Check the "Yes, I want to merge this member" box.
- Click the Merge Member button.
Note: this action cannot be undone! All transactions made by the member being merged from will be reassigned to the current profile. All other information relating to the member being merged from will be lost.
